Rusty Door Hinge

Contributed by C Avery

This picture was taken while I was at Special Equestrians volunteering as a feeder. At first I did not like the picture, but when I saw it on my computer screen, and made a few adjustments with levels, and I really liked the rusty feel when I saw this picture.

I like this picture. Not many people think to photograph everyday things like a door hinge, so good creativity on the subject. I also like how you filled your frame with the door hinge, it makes for an interesting picture. Good job!

This picture is really unique and it's not something i would have thought about to photograph. The angle is cool and i like how the wood fills up the whole shot getting rid of much background. The rusty hinge is pretty cool too.

I like this picture mainly for the reason that it is "different". It's not something people look at everyday and view as art, but this photograph makes a rusty hinge look very beautiful. I like how the photographer took this at an angle and not just straight on. I like how this is an 'antique' looking photo, but the colors are enhanced which makes it look lively. Lastly, I like how the background is blurred, that way the viewer can focus on the main image within the photograph.

I like how the the hinge is rusty and its a nice color. The background being blurred looks good and makes the hinge and wood look very clear. Also this picture fills the whole frame besides the few corners of the background is is a nice touch too.

5. Sept 30, 2009. SPHS blog. This picture is not of a typical subject which I think makes it unique. But isnt that a major component of photography? I do like how you used "filling the frame" to bring focus to your subject. Also, making the background blurry helps create a good depth of field. Do you think you could have used the rule of 3rd a little bit better? MB SPHS.

I can't say that I'm a big fan of this picture. I like the idea, and you did a good job with the colors, but the angle is very distracting. I find myself focusing too much on trying to straighten out the picture in my mind and turning my head to focus on other parts of the photo. The concept is interesting, and i like that you took a picture of something many people would have passed up, but the angle is just a bit too dizzying for my tastes.

This is a really cool photo, especially because it is of such an average object. You did a good job of filling the frame; any excess background would have taken away from the picture, but any less would have taken away the impact of the lines. I also like how the subject has the strongest color of the photo. This really helps draw your eye to the subject.

I love the old rustic look to the spring hinge. The focus is really clear. The exposure is not to dark and not to bright. It is definitely an unique photo. I would of never thought of taking a picture of a door hinge.

The first thing I look at when I glance at this picture is obviously the rusty door hinge. I love how you can see the redish rustic color on the fence like it has been painted on there. Great detail on picture.sphs

I love how you took something so simple and turned it into a great piece of art. The unique angle from which you took this makes the picture that much more interesting. The green in the background provides the image with a little bit of color, but not enough to distract you from the main subject, the hinge. The rusty coloring of the hinge against the wood looks magnificent! I love how you got right up in there and filled the entire picture with the hinge. Great picture!!

I love the way you angled the picture. It really adds creativity to such a simple subject. Also the color of the rust is amazing. You did a great job at adjusting the color levels; it all fits together very well.

It does have a very rusty, rural look to it - an enjoyable contrast to modern technology. The scratches and wood shavings on the bottom make the picture look a little messy, but also more natural. The angle is nice, and I like how the photo gets much sharper as the subject gets closer.

There is something about this photo that pulls you in. Having the hinge at an angle really works to the picture's advantage. I also love the colors, particularly the red in the rust. All in all, good work!

I like how close up the picture is on the door hinge. The brightness and color is great. I like how enhanced the rust color is. This photo is very unique.

I like that this picture is really close up and it fills in the frame. I also like that it shows some depth of field by showing part of the background out of focus.

I really like how the focus is in the picture, and i love how the color of the rust has colored the wood around it. I also like the depth in it. Its not much but just the right amount. Over all an amazing picture. O.W. sphs

Great picture Christy! The clarity and detail is very nice which really makes it interesting and gives it texture. I like the color too. I think it would help if the subject wasn't exactly in the center, but still good job :)

I think it looks great! There are a few minor details that could make it fantastic, but most of those have been stated, and there's no need to repeat them.
